A serious plane crash at Toronto’s Pearson airport on Monday.
The Delta Air Lines plane suffered significant damage as it tried to land, but officials say all 80 passengers and crew “are accounted for” and there are reports at least 15 people suffered injuries.
“Initial reports were that there are no fatalities. Several customers with injuries were transported to area hospitals. Our primary focus is taking care of those impacted.” Delta Air Lines said in a statement.
Photos and video show the plane turned upside down on its roof and passengers running out onto the runway.
It happened during high winds and heavy snow as Ontario cleans up after being hammered by multiple days of stormy weather.
The Delta Air Lines plane was being operated by Endeavor Air, a wholly owned subsidiary of Delta headquartered in Minneapolis.
Pilots were attempting to landing in Toronto after departing from Minneapolis earlier in the day.
The situation is causing lengthy delays for multiple airlines at Pearson and at other airports across the country.
