An Elsipogtog First Nation woman has been charged with attempted murder after what police describe as a violent assault in the community.
RCMP received a report of a woman being treated by paramedics at an ambulance station around 1:45 a.m. Saturday.
The 20-year-old woman was later taken to the hospital with what were believed to be serious life-threatening injuries.
Police said they soon learned that the victim had allegedly been assaulted at a residence on Hill Street.
Officers went to the home and arrested a 40-year-old woman at the scene without incident.
She appeared in court later that same day and was remanded into custody until her scheduled bail hearing on April 1.
