Moncton Firefighters were busy in the north end on Tuesday morning during a fire in the Ryder Trailer Park.
The fire broke out at around midnight on Pioneer Avenue, in a home that is on the vacant building list.
“Flames were coming from the rear, underneath and from the rear window,” Moncton Fire Captain and Acting Platoon Chief Scott Brown told our newsroom.
“All of the doors and the windows were secured with plywood. Every Monday, we check all of the abandoned buildings in the city, and that one was checked.”
Brown says that because the home was secured, they fought the blaze from the exterior.
The home has been extensively damaged.
Four stations were on scene for around three hours.
Because the building was secure, Brown says it’s unlikely the fire would have started from the interior.
A Fire Marshal is on scene investigating the cause.
