Nine residents have been temporarily displaced after a fire at a special care home in Riverview.
Riverview Fire and Rescue responded to the home on Emery Street shortly after 6 p.m. Saturday.
“Upon making entry, crews found a small room and contents fire on the second floor in a resident’s room,” the fire department said in a news release.
Crews made quick work of the fire, and no injuries were reported to either civilians or firefighters.
Officials said there was water and smoke damage, mainly on the second floor of the special care home.
“All nine residents have been at least temporarily displaced, and are either with family, or have been provided with shelter through coordination with Social Development,” said the release.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. A total of 23 firefighters were on the scene.
