You will need to put up with construction headaches along Moncton’s Main Street for a few more weeks.
A major infrastructure renewal project has led to lane closures and major traffic delays since late April.
City officials had hoped to wrap up the work by last week, but it is now expected to continue until Oct. 10.
In an update on Friday, the city highlighted some of the work that has been completed so far.
Installing a storm sewer outfall at the Petitcodiac River, along with localized work on Main Street, including nighttime lane reductions and temporary closures/detours.
- Closing the Riverfront Trail, from the Settlers Landing to the Running Room (300 Main St.), due to ongoing outfall construction.
- Installing storm sewer pipes within the Chateau Moncton parking lot.
- Ongoing and upcoming work includes installing storm sewer pipes from the Chateau Moncton to King Street.
There will also be upgrades to the Main Street and King Street intersection, which will mean a multi-day closure of King Street between Rabbi Lippa Medjuck Street and Main Street.
Crews must also complete milling and paving work along Main Street between Mechanic Street and the Moncton-Dieppe city limits.
In total, crews will install about 357 metres of new storm system, 277 metres of renewed sanitary lines and complete repairs to the water system.
