A 39‑year‑old woman from Moncton has been charged after RCMP say a firearm was discharged inside a home in the city.
Officers responded to a report of a shot being fired inside a residence on Dominion Street around 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
Police said a firearm had been discharged inside the home.
A woman was arrested at the scene, and the firearm was seized. No injuries were reported.
RCMP said the woman appeared in Moncton provincial court on Monday.
She was charged with reckless discharge of a firearm and possession of a loaded prohibited firearm.
Mounties added that she was remanded into custody and is scheduled to return to court on Wednesday.
RCMP said the incident was believed to be isolated and there was no danger to the public.
The force explained that the situation did not meet the criteria for an Alert Ready message, but said officers are prepared to issue one if needed
