An annual tradition is underway in downtown Moncton.
Over 1500 people gather each year at the Delta Beasejour Hotel for the Progress Club Antler Breakfast.
This fundraising event, provided by the Greater Moncton Progress Club, helps to kick off the festive season in the Hub City.
Money raised goes to local children’s charities, including Camp Livingston, Sistema NB, Atlantic Wellness Centre, Special Olympics, Boys and Girls Clubs, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the pediatric units of the Moncton and Dr. Georges-L.-Dumont University Hospitals.
New toys are also collected to help fill Santa’s sack for the Moncton Headstart toy drive.
The Antler Breakfast runs from 6:30 to 9:30 on Friday morning.
This is also the lead-up to the Greater Moncton Santa Claus parade.
Each year, the Greater Moncton Progress Club provides an opportunity for children who are patients in the two hospital pediatric wards to view the parade in person.
They transport the children and their families to the City Hall pedway over Main Street, where they will watch the parade.
The children are also provided with presents and a few surprise guests.
