Horizon Health is hoping to build on the success of an awareness campaign to reduce the number of missed appointments.
They rolled out a campaign in Fredericton last fall that reduced the number of missed appointments by 50%.
Horizon President and CEO John McGarry says a continual decrease will help them deliver timely and quality care to patients.
McGarry says “showing up for your appointment plays a significant role in helping us to sustain and exceptional patient and family centred care environment.”
The message of the campaign is simple, either attend your appointment or call to cancel and rebook.
The areas with the highest percentage of no shows are the Pulmonary and Asthma Clinic, Clinical Nutrition, Ultrasound and Mammography.
In 2013, 400,000 appointments were booked across Horizon, and of that 24,000, or 6% failed to show up.
Vice President of Professional Services Gary Foley says calling to rebook when you can’t make your appointment “is the best option for your health and also ensures others who are waiting aren’t needlessly delayed.”
The initiative will be rolled out in Horizon Hospitals in Moncton, Saint John and Miramichi.
