The Trans Canada Highway could reopen between River Glade and Oromocto to one lane each direction by this weekend.
The province is working with operator MRDC to determine if repairs may be needed to the flooded out section.
Department of Transportation spokesperson Ahmed Dassouki continues to urge drivers to respect barricades on roads and bridges.
“Crossing roads and bridges affected by high water levels can be dangerous. They have been closed for public safety and to maintain the integrity of the structure,” he adds.
Dassouki adds about 150 roads in the province continue to be affected by flooding but that number continues to fluctuate as floodwaters recede.
