Codiac RCMP officers were called to JJ’s Convenience store on Vail Street yesterday evening for an armed robbery.
Tracy Arsenault, an employee at the store who lives next door, said she was in her kitchen, looking out over her backyard doing dishes at the time.
“And I saw this gentleman running across my yard, and he was, you could tell he was dressed in his black hoodie, his face covered, and I could tell instantly that there was something odd, so I ran outside to come and see my boss, because [by] instinct I knew the store was robbed,” says Arsenault.
She says her boss was shaken, but uninjured, and an undisclosed amount of money was taken by the man armed with a gun.
Arsenault adds the police promptly showed up, with a canine unit and began searching the area.
She also said while there have been a few robberies over the last couple years, she’s not overly concerned for her safety at work, adding her philosophy is “it can happen anywhere, you can be walking in the street, you could be in a store shopping yourself, so just be aware of your surroundings.”
