Police have cleared the scene of a Saturday evening incident on Fredericton’s north side, nor far away from Friday’s fatal shooting of four people.
The Fredericton Police Force posted a tweet at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday which said they are at an “ongoing incident” in the area of Hawkins Street and Royal Road.
“We are asking the public to avoid the area while the police work,” the tweet read.
The incident in the Hawkins St/Royal Rd. area has been cleared. Officers are meeting and reassuring those in the neighbourhood. Investigation continues.

Reports on social media indicated there were several armed officers in the area from the Fredericton Police Force and several other departments.
Police have not said what prompted the response but did say it was unrelated to Friday’s shooting on Brookside Drive, which left two police officers and two civilians dead.
Matthew Vincent Raymond, 48, of Fredericton has been charged with four counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of Const. Lawrence Robert (Robb) Costello, 45, Const. Sara Mae Helen Burns, 43, Donald Adam Robichaud, 42, and Bobbie Lee Wright, 32.
Officers from other agencies are working in Fredericton to help the city’s police force in light of the shooting.
