Maritimers love to vacation in Cuba but recent hurricane damage to the Caribbean island may prompt changes to some of those holiday plans.
Francine Patterson with Maritime Travel says the resorts of Cayo Coco and Cayo Santa Maria were badly affected by the powerful storm.
Patterson says Holguin area appears to be fine but damage in Varadero may be more extensive than first thought.
She believes a lot of clients are taking a wait-and-see approach when heading south this year.
“The calls have not been quite as heavy as they would be at this time of year because I think they are just trying to find out what is going to be affected,” she notes.
Patterson adds a major earthquake may have caused extensive damage and claimed lives in Mexico City but she adds the resort areas of Cancun and the Mayan Riviera have not been affected at all.
