A 34-year old Moncton man is under arrest after a crash Friday night near downtown.
Codiac RCMP Corporal David Swansburg says police were called to Lester Street at 10:45 after a resident reported a collision.
“The owner that lives inside the house believed that the vehicle had struck the house originally,” says Swansburg. “But when he came out he found the vehicle had collided with two vehicles in his driveway.”
Swansburg continues “police set up a perimeter and were able to locate a suspect and arrested a suspect at a different location close by.”
He says the driver had fled the scene after a brief exchange of words with the homeowner.
Swansburg reports in a bid to hide from police, the suspect broke into another nearby house and had an altercation with the resident there, at which point police caught up to him.
The suspect was treated for injuries from the original collision at the hospital before returning to RCMP custody.
Swansburg says the suspect will go to court today to face charges.
