About 30 firefighters were called to a forest fire which started just outside Dieppe off Melanson Road around 3:30 Thursday afternoon.
Division Chief Marc Cormier says the fire was outside city limits in a non-hydrant area which prompted a call for water tankers from neighbouring communities.
He says weather conditions were also a factor.
“It was windy and that wasn’t helping. However, with the proper personnel on scene, we were able to surround it and contain it. At this time, it is contained and extinguished,” he noted.
No homes or structures were damaged and no one was hurt.
The cause is not yet known.
