The Weather Network is suggesting we fasten our seatbelts, its seasonal forecast is calling for a bumpy ride this winter in New Brunswick.
Meteorologist Michael Carter expects it will be an active winter with plenty of storms bringing snow, rain and even ice.
“An abundance of warm water temperatures in the western Atlantic (is one of the factors)… so both the Gulf of Mexico and the Gulf Stream have been quite warm this year. That has really contributed extra moisture to the storm systems that we do have tracking through from time to time,” he adds.
He expects the two usual storm suspects – Colorado Lows and Nor’easters – will be fast and frequent.
Carter believes we’ll still have our fair share of thaws too bringing milder conditions and rain which should keep the snowbanks from building up too much as they did during the infamous winter of 2014-2015.
