The municipal tax rate will remain steady in the City of Moncton for 2018.
City Council has formally adopted a $154 million operating budget.
Thanks to $3.6 million in funding from the province to cover a reduced assessment base, most of that unexpected revenue will go into reserves.
To help reduce the city’s debt and overall borrowing requirements, $7.3 million is being contributed from the operations budget.
Some of the capital projects for the coming year include completion of the Downtown Centre, its plaza and related components.
Other projects include water and sewer infrastructure improvements, road and sidewalk construction, along with enhancements to parks and recreational areas.
Water and sewer bills will rise by about $27 next year for the average Moncton household or about $6.75 quarterly.
